Flashback Friday/The Royal Wedding

I try to document historical happenings in the kids lives in addition to our everyday adventures. I am sure I have missed a few and what I think is important to them now, they might see as unimportant later in life. My wish for them is that they can see who they were and what they were doing when these historical happenings took place.

That being said the first picture is Gigi in front of the TV during the inauguration of Barack Obama. The following pictures are in honor of today's Royal Wedding of Prince William & Kate Middleton.

Gigi & I watched some of the wedding together and  she would get excited and clap & cheer. I explained to her that Kate is a princess and she was loving that. I wasn't as interested in the Royal Wedding as some people, but it's something to celebrate and I love to celebrate! After we finished watching the wedding, Gigi got dressed up in her princess best & we had a little tea party/play time celebration of our own. I feel so blessed that I am able to spend this day and each and everyday with my own prince-charming and my little princess & prince.

Easter Sunday

We started Easter Sunday with an excited little girl smiling ear to ear at the sight that the Easter bunny had come for her (it didn't take her long to spot the evidence on the back deck).

Once she finished collecting her eggs & Easter goodies we had breakfast. Then Gigi proceeded to pull out her fingerpaints the Easter bunny left for her. Probably not the best idea before getting ready to go to church... but, hey it's Easter. A bath was necessary after all the painting and then it was off to church. We weren't even a minute late to church & had to stand in the foyer because church was insanely packed! Church lasted a little longer that usual, but as always, the kids were remarkably well-behaved.

After church we went through the Wendy's drive-thru for lunch. Which, I am not proud of. I hate that they have to work on Easter and I was obviously not helping the situation. But, I had a hungry kid in the backseat and wanted to get home eat & put the kids down for their naps without having to cook, clean, and etc.

So we ate, the kids took their naps and then it was off to Moses' aunt & uncle's house to celebrate Easter with his side of the family. We had a cookout and enjoyed the company of each other. It was a beautiful relaxing Easter, where we really had time to enjoy the day and each other.

We also had a visit from the "Easter Bubby"

Seeing that the Easter Bunny came!

He left her "Chicka Chicka ABC!"

and eggs!

and messy finger-paints!

Ready for church... but sad she can no longer paint & eat chocolate bunnies

All celebrated out

An Eggciting Saturday

Gigi was able to participate in 4 egg hunts this year. I am thinking this might be a record. On the plus side, we have enough candy in the house to get us through to Halloween. She thoroughly enjoyed each egg hunt  -- although for her age group it is more of an egg gather. She would get so "eggcited" when she would see the eggs on the ground, she could hardly wait to start the "gather". I loved watching her concentrate so hard on what she was doing & the look of pure bliss on her face was priceless.

On Saturday & Sunday her meals consisted of chocolate bunnies, peeps, jelly beans, lollipops and etc. We are now working on actually having a meal or two with an item from the bottom portion of the food pyramid in it. Wish us luck!

Easter Treats

Although I purchased an egg dying kit this year... I decided against it. I really didn't think Gigi was ready to dye eggs and I wasn't ready to deal with the mess & to decide what to do with all the eggs.

We did make some special Easter treats though. Gigi & I had fun on Friday evening putting XL marshmallow eggs on sticks, dipping them in chocolate & then putting sprinkles on them!

Flashback Friday

Grayson's 1st Easter

An Easter Box From G-Ma

Since my kids happen to have the hippest, coolest, most stylish grandma around we don't call her grandma... she goes by G-Ma. My nephew & nieces gave her this name years ago. She definitely has earned it by riding the most intense roller coasters, being "athletic" (lol), and always putting a smile on all our faces.

In her normal G-Ma style, a box showed up at our door addressed to Gigi & Gio. It was filled with their most favorite things from Pez to dress-up clothes to Curious George toys/candy (where does she find all this CG stuff.. it's impossible to find.. I guess that's why she is G-Ma!)

The kids had an amazing time opening it all up, eating the candy and playing with their new toys. Plus, I was able to hide the chocolate Easter candy... Gigi would want to "share" it with me anyway.

Really? Gluten Free CG cookies?

Painting Eggs

Rain & storms were in the forecast for yesterday. So I thought we would do some Easter crafting instead of our normal walk to the park. I had picked up an egg painting kit a couple weeks ago & was waiting for the perfect afternoon to pull it out.

Gigi had a great time, she LOVES to paint. This is the first Easter (well, actually holiday) that she has been able to grasp. We have been reading a lot of books about Easter and well, she hasn't quite caught on to The Resurrection. However, she is completely aware of the Easter Bunny. While painting her eggs she said "Happy Easter Momma" and this morning she went to the door asking me to open it for the "Easter Mummy".

On The Hunt...

Gigi & Gio attended their 1st Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. They first sat for some cookies & juice while listening to the story of the Resurrection. Gio was very attentive.. the pastor used Resurrection Eggs to tell the story, I think he listened more than all the other kids combined.

Then it was to the front lawn of the church for the hunt. Gigi was so sweet carrying her little basket, she was excited with each individual egg she picked up.. paying no attention to the other kids who were trying to grab as many as possible..she picked up enough eggs to cover the bottom of her basket & then sat down to open each one. Even though she picked up far less eggs than the other kids, she picked the egg with the "golden ticket inside"! She took the ticket to Mother Goose & won a special Easter basket prize.

I think we might have more Easter Egg Hunts in store for us next weekend!
