Gio's First Fever

Last Thursday evening Gio began running a fever. On Friday morning he woke up with 101.4  and pink eye! I took him into the doctor and they were able to write him a prescription for his eyes, but didn't know what was causing his fever. He is feeling better today, but is still a little crabby. We didn't take him anywhere last weekend, because the weather has been horrible. I am hoping he will be back to his old self by this weekend.

Poor "icky" eyes!

Beach, Beach Please Momma!

We bought a new swimming suit for GiGi and gave it to her last night. She tried it on, but then it was time to get into her pj's. This morning, she comes to me completely naked saying "suit, please momma!". So I put her swimming suit on her and she went & put her flip-flops on. She keeps telling her Daddy & I "beach, beach please!"

I can already tell she is going to be the kid that wants to wear her swimsuit day & night. She helped me make pancakes in it & ate in it.. she still has it on. I can't help but let her wear it, because she looks SO CUTE in it!

Up!

While I was cleaning up the kitchen last night, I caught Gigi & her Daddy having a great time playing on the deck. I grabbed my camera and later looked at the pictures. I immediately thought how much the pictures resembled one of the stories in Gigi's favorite book, Up!

Lift me up! A flying feeling. I can almost touch the ceiling.

Swinging up. Swinging high. Pumping-stretching- Hello, sky!

Swing me up, swing me around. My feet don't want to touch the ground.

Toss me up! Toss me high, so I can spread my wings and fly!

Up as high as an airplane goes. Clouds and sky between my toes.

Alabama

On Thursday evening we packed our car with entirely way too much stuff and we headed to AL on Friday afternoon. Gigi was so excited to go to Alabamomma (as she calls is) because she was going to see Joshua! She had been talking about the trip the entire week.

We got to Titi Carmen's house & Gigi was ready to play! And I was ready to meet my newest niece, Anna. The kids ran around the house playing and we finished off the evening with some ice cream! It was Gigi's first time having Mint Chocolate Chip - she enjoyed it!

The next morning we got up & went back to Titi Carmen's for breakfast and were off to Vaughn Park. All the kids had a GREAT time. We blew bubbles, attempted to fly a kite, played football & soccer, & of course played with ALL the playground equipment the park had to offer. Gio & Anna played in the shade on a blanket & kept each other company. After about 3 hours at the park, we headed back to Titi Carmen's for a cookout & more playing!

We headed back home in the late afternoon.. Gigi & Gio were asleep before we got on the highway. We all had a wonderful time. It was great to see Gigi enjoy the company of so many of her cousins. We are already planning our next trip.. maybe to the beach next time :)

It was HOT there - 86 degrees!

You Know You Are A Mom To A 2 Yr Old When...

-You find your chapstick mysteriously stuck in the turkey baster

-You can sing every PBS Kids shows theme song

-You apply band-aids more often than lipstick

-You have a layer of sand at the bottom of the bathtub

-You have stickers stuck to your closet door

-You find a half eaten apple under your pillow

-Your chairs are on TOP of the kitchen table

-All day you find yourself saying "That's NOT funny", "Don't Touch That", "Put That Down", "Shh, You're Going To Wake Your Brother Up", "Share, Please"

-You have seen EVERY public restroom

-You have to push the annoying, awkward race-car shopping cart at the grocery store, even when you are just going in for milk

-You say you are "Going To The Doctor" in an effort to leave the house unattended

-You spend most of your meal begging & pleading for your child just to take "2 bites" of theirs.

-Although you love home decor, you only have a clear shower curtain liner hanging so you can monitor everything going on while you are showering.

-By the end of the day you are EXHAUSTED but then overcome by sadness... because of the thought that you only have 212 more days to spend with your energetic, sweet, fun-loving 2 year old before she turns 3!

On Your Half Birthday...

My Little Soldier,

This past month you have discovered how to do so many new things: you can sit (unassisted), roll everywhere and anywhere to get where you want, get up on your hands & knees, blow raspberries, you have 2 bottom teeth you eat a regular breakfast, lunch and dinner, and you "speak" loudly when you are in need of some attention. We are still having quite a difficult time getting you to sleep.. but we are praying that ends soon!

Garrison, each day that we have shared with you has brought joy and happiness into our lives. I am so proud to call you my sweet baby, son and my little soldier.

This Is What Weekends Were Made For...

-grilling out every meal - breakfast at chick-fil-a - watching mo & gigi climb up the playplace slide together - walking to the park more than once a day - pushing my little guy in the swing until he can no longer keep his eyes open - watching gigi play in the sandbox with her cousins - laughing as other moms try to get their toddlers to stop eating the sand, because i have so been there - watching gigi chase after other toddlers (who don't want to be chased) screaming "got you" - having to clean the bathtub after gigi gets out because there is a layer of sand/dirt at the bottom of it - listening to gigi laugh hysterically because she caught gio peeing in the tub - listening to gio laugh because gigi is pouring water on his belly while he is in the tub - jogging as a family of four - watching gio sleep peacefully in his stroller - blowing bubbles until i am out of breath - watching gio pop his first bubble - covering every square inch of our deck in chalk - sitting outside planning our adventures for the next weekend..

Quirrel Eatin Mamorn Momma!

Friday night Gigi & Daddy made some popcorn (mamorn, as G calls it). At no surprise to me, the popcorn was completely burnt. Daddy threw most of it out the sliding glass door, on to the back deck.

The next morning, I was feeding Gio in the living room & Gigi walked into the kitchen to get something... when I hear a blood curdling scream! She ran as fast as she could & jumped into my lab, sobbing! I immediately thought she was hurt, but she said she wasn't.. I asked her is she saw a bug? (she sometimes reacts that way when she sees a bug) she said, No Momma! I was trying to understand her words through all her sobbing. Finally, she got it all out.. "Quirrel Eating Mamorn Momma!"

Well, Daddy had put the popcorn literally, right outside the door & when she walked in to the kitchen all she saw was this squirrel eating the popcorn & was scared to death! After some comforting I was able to get her back in to the kitchen & we all watched the squirrel finish off the popcorn.

Just Like Your Sister..

Dearest Garrison,

Since the day I found out I was pregnant with you, I found myself wondering what you would be like.. would you have your momma's blue eyes or daddy's brown eyes? Would you be easy going or uptight? Recently, I have started to realize... you are Just Like Your Sister!

You scream loudly when you are happy & excited ... Just Like Your Sister
You love for momma to rub your back as you drift off to sleep ... Just Like Your Sister
