Yesterday we (our lil family of 4) participated in the March of Dimes - March for Babies. We did a 4 mile run.. our goal was to be the first family with a double stroller to finish.. we ended up being the first family at all to finish.. it felt good! There is nothing like getting up on a Saturday morning to exercise while supporting a cause & watching your kids have an amazing time.
The March of Dimes is a cause we support and is close to our hearts. Although I have never given birth to a premature baby, we have had two babies that have passed before I was ever able to cradle them in my arms, count their fingers and toes or gently kiss their soft cheeks. While I will never carry my babies in my arms, I will always carry them both in my heart.
Unable to impact their lives the way I would have wished; I am a better person because of the profound impact their short lives have had on mine. They taught me just how precious life really is. Their lives have been an example of how deep a mothers love runs; without ever knowing their sex, the color of their eyes, or the sound of their cry.. they were mine and I loved them. Today, I have peace in knowing that in His time, I will one day be reunited with them.
That being said after the run on Saturday we took some time to enjoy each other and the 2 beautiful lives we have been blessed to call our "babies." We played in the splash pad, had ice-cream bars, ran around the park, and had a picnic outside.
**This post is not intended to make anyone sad... it is intended to be a reminder to celebrate life.
**Please keep in mind that the pictures of me are after a 4 mile run in the GA sun!
