You were witness to history once again. While you both slept soundly in your beds I stayed up waiting to watch a late night announcement by President Barack Obama. Shortly before he went on, it was announced that Osama Bin Laden was killed by US soldiers (this was on May 1, 2011). 

While you both will not remember this day, I am positive you will read about it in your history books. It is important that you recognize the commitment and sacrifices the US military has made to ensure your safety and freedom. It is my hope that you will forever appreciate the country you live in and the people that serve it.
