Ice & Snow Storm

The kids have officially been out of school for 10 days. We have lost power 4 of the 10 day, making for a cold, boring house. Everything here has been shut down, they don't mess around here. After living in AK, snow & ice don't really faze me. But, here in TN - It is a BIG freakin' deal. The ice covered everything & was absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately though we lost a large limb of one of our trees. It could have landed anywhere in our huge yard - but landed on & broke our pool pump/filter. Ugh. We have trees that line our driveway & the ice weighed down the limbs to the point the limbs were still attached, but touching the driveway. Crazy.

The kids have played in the snow before, but have never been sledding (We didn't have enough snow in WA). And, to be honest.. sledding is scary to me. If you know me well, you will remember the very bad sledding accident I was in as a child. But, I bit the bullet & bought the kids some sleds and the 3 of us went sledding in our neighbors yard. Grayson loved it from the get go. Garrison was a bit more apprehensive, but loved it all the same. We spent a couple hours outside & the kids exerted much of the energy they had built up.

This is what I mean by a little apprehensive

This tree already had buds, probably because it was 70 degrees 2 weeks ago!

Build A Bear

I haven't been able to spend as much quality time with G & G lately, as I would like to. Most of the time it's for short periods of time, in between feedings, diapers, etc.. Gigi had some tooth fairy money that was burning a hole in her pocket, so we went to her favorite place - the mall. She loves to shop. She will often ask me "Mom, can we go to the shoe store? I promise, it's just to look." HA! I'm Moses is in for it, when she's a teenager! We looked around the mall & they finally decided on Build A Bear. Of course. They are a little obsessed. Garrison had just been there about a month prior and couldn't understand why the lady didn't remember him or his bear. He had the whole store in stitches. Garrison made a brown bear he named Captain American (he already has a Batman). Grayson chose a pink bear, which she creatively named Pinky. We had a good time. It was really nice to give them my undivided attention for awhile. I might have enjoyed it more than they did.

Up Close & Personal

Our little Pili-Pie is 7 weeks old. She is holding her head up like a champ and likes to stare you down with her big blue eyes. She enjoys watching her brother and sister sing and dance. Her favorite is their rendition of "Hard Knock Life". I'm sure it won't be long and she will be joining in.

My girls.

“ A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.”
– Isadora James

I have 2 girls. Grayson has a sister. Marit has a sister. It's surreal. What a blessing for them to have each other. They don't know it yet, but one day they are going to be as thick as thieves. Grayson's love for Marit is exponential. And one day, Grayson will be Marit's hero. For now though, they settle for lots of cuddles, smiles and laughs.

Marit @ 1 Month

It's hard to believe a month has come and gone already. Your first week was met with several feeding obstacles. By the end of your first week of life you weighed just 5 pounds. At 1 month old you are now up to 7 pounds! Which leaves you in the 5th percentile for weight (you are also in the 5th percentile for height). You are a teeny-tiny but STRONG! You are still wearing newborn sized diapers and clothes.. and most the newborn sized clothes are still too big for you. You love to hear the sound of our voices, specifically Gigi! She can get the biggest smiles from you. Everytime Garrison sets his eyes on you he says: "aww, she's so cute!" You have no real sleep routine. You typically sleep no more than 2 hours at a time and then are ready to eat again, this includes nighttime! It's pretty rough on Mommy, but we are surviving! You have to get in and out of your car seat at least 4 times a day because of school pick ups/drop offs. You are rolling with it though, and rarely fuss while in your seat. I hope this continues! You have fit so perfectly into our family, Marit. It seems as if you have been with us all along, although it's only been a month! We love you dearly!

Sisters

There's no denying that Grayson is Marit's number 1 fan! She is a FABULOUS big sister! She is such a great helper. She always has a diaper ready, a burp cloth on stand-by and talks to her in the car to keep her from getting upset. I don't know what I would do without her. One day she is going to be the Worlds Best Mommy. For now though, she is without a doubt the Worlds Best Sister. Before long I know Marit will be Grayson's number fan!

Bath Time Beauty

Pili seems to enjoy bath time as much as her brother & sister. We all love to smell her and snuggle with her afterward. I finally got around to clipping her nails after her bath today. Although she is my 3rd, clipping baby nail still scares me to death!
She always keeps her arms like this and her hands in fists.. Not sure that, that is a good sign..

Looks like she is going to have Gigi's curls...
